The summer season is here and it’s time to get in the water and have some fun
The days are longer, the air is warming, and life has a fresh smell to it that makes you feel alive. We’re on the cusp of summer and everything on the marsh is coming to life after a particular long and grueling winter. Here at the marina, it’s been a busy off season with lots to be thankful for despite lots obstacles. That’s how it goes when you’re dealing with anything as unpredictable as nature. You do the best with the cards you’ve been dealt and thank your lucky stars for another chance to delight in a wondrous world.
In addition to everything else, we’ve all been spending a lot of time at Bidwell Creek, getting the newly renovated Ship’s Store ready for the season. We’re well aware that it took much longer than anticipated and no one was more frustrated by this than we were, but we stuck with it, and we’re finally ready to unveil our new offering to the public. We’re not finished making improvements, and there is so much more to do before we’re satisfied, but it’s a solid start and we think our guests will be pleased.
In addition to the regular crew of crabs, egrets, herons, swallows, and gulls, we had the pleasure of witnessing a few less than usual guests visiting the marinas. At Bidwell, for instance, we have what appears to be a pair of Bald Eagles who enjoy circling the marinas looking for something tasty. But the real surprise was the coyote we saw passing through the back pasture on evening, looking healthy and strong, unfazed and at ease. We won’t even get into the wild boar that was allegedly spotted.
Bidwell Creek

The Ship’s Store at Bidwell Creek is opening on Saturday, April 17-18, from 8am to 5pm, and will be open every weekend until Memorial Day, after which it will be open seven days a week. Unfortunately, the winter ice storm did a number on a few of the docks, but nothing took it worse than the Fuel Dock at Bidwell Creek. It got seriously mangled and it’s been quite the chore to get it back in working order, including equipment delays. The plan is to have it open by Memorial Day.
Grassy Sound

We’ve also continued to upgrade amenities at Grassy Sound, including additional touches to the Ship’s Store there. We will have new bathrooms and a transient lounge, plus new offerings of branded apparel and merchandise. The Ship’s Store and Fuel Dock will open on May 2, 2026 and will be open from 8am-5pm Saturday and Sunday until June 19, after which it will be open seven days a week. A third cottage has been added to our lodging, and we’re looking forward to a great summer.
20th Annual Flounder Tournament
Save the date: June 20, 2026. More details to follow, but we are already gearing up for what is likely to be our most successful flounder tournament ever, and you’re not going to want to miss it..
Scotch Bonnet

Our newest marina at Scotch Bonnet is going to be the last to open but the most complete when finished. As a miniature proof of concept, Scotch Bonnet will feature a much smaller footprint than a traditional marina, with brand new Ipe docks and hookup pedestals, custom-built houseboats, and even a floating Ship’s Store. With close proximity to the action in Stone Harbor, but blissfully removed from the chaos, Scotch Bonnet offers a true haven from the madness. We are scheduled to launch sometime in mid summer.

Who Is Haven Marina Resorts?
Haven Marina Resorts is the preeminent developer of marina resorts, an entirely new kind of hospitality offering, the waterscape hotel within a working marina. Made up of local entrepreneurs from Cape May County, Haven brings an unprecedented form of hospitality to the Jersey Shore.
