We have a saying at Haven Marina Resorts, a little mantra of sorts, that helps to keep us in check and remind us of what’s important. It goes, “Any day on the water is a good day.” It might seem a bit elementary at first glance, an anodyne platitude without any deeper meaning or purpose, but we believe it’s a critical reminder to all who set foot on one of our properties, be they Guest or Crew. This is a gift.
It is a gift to be able to spend time on the water, whether on a boat or a dock, and we think it’s worth remembering just how valuable it is to find yourself out of doors and on the water, surrounded by the wild spectacle of nature. The quality of light, the symphony of sounds, and the complexity of aromas, all combine to create a truly memorable experience each and every time. It’s worth stopping to take notice.
We think it’s important to remind our guests, that this activity that they have paid significantly for the pleasure to engage in, is supposed to be fun; that they choose to participate in recreational boating and fishing activities for the sheer pleasure of it. But even more importantly, we want to remind our Crew that this is why our guests are here. We must be constantly reminded that our purpose is to facilitate memorable experiences by delivering compassionate hospitality to each and every guest.
It really just comes down to the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That’s the basis for Compassionate Hospitality. Treat people as you would want to be treated: With respect, dignity, curiosity, care, and compassion.
Any day on the water is a good day.
